UMich VIVACE Hydropower System Makes Energy From Slow Currents

A new hydropower prototype from the University of Michigan could end up using even slower river and ocean currents to generate energy. VIVACE, which stands for Vortex Induced Vibrations for Aquatic Clean Energy, can generate power from as little as 2 knots, making it more useful than most tur

Dell Wasabi First Inkless Pocket Printer That's Not Hideous

Zink's inkless pocket photo printers aren't new tech, but before Dell's Wasabi rendition, they were drag, ugly boxes, not deliberately designed modernist rectangles. They're $100 at the moment, though standard price will be $149. [Dell] GALLERY

Disposable Paper Laptops

Disposable Paper Laptops

I quite agree with Je Sung Park when he says that disposable cameras and cell phones have gained acceptance, so why don’t we take the next step and bring out a disposable computer. His Recyclable Paper Laptop is quite a raw version and could do with some refinement. It uses recycled paper or pul

This Is the First USB 3.0 Motherboard

might be dicking around on USB 3.0, but ain’t. The Xtreme Design P7P55D-E is apparently the very first USB 3.0 motherboard. It’s an P55-based mobo that uses a third-party USB 3.0 controller for a pair of ports.

It has 10 2.0 orifices too. Personally, I’d just wait for a full 3.0 board, where every port’s 3.0. Otherwise, you’re just gonna feel cramped and then dumb, when you have to buy another board. If you must have the 3.0 now this slab supports CrossFire and SLI with a pair of PCIe x 16 slots, a pair of Gigabit ethernet ports, and eSATA. Of course, there’s no price or date for this thing yet, which makes it a little less exciting, perhaps. As exciting as gimped 3.0 motherboards can get, anyway.
