The UBiqWindow: Google Earth Hologram Device You'll Want

[vimeo]http://vimeo.com/422742[/vimeo] If you can forgive the crap music, you'll just love this video of Google Earth mashed up with a hologram machine. This is real, and I want one very, very badly. By combining a 2D mid-air projection system and motion sensors, the device gives you a gesture-base

Why Should I Want This MID

Why Should I Want This MID

Really, why would I want this MID (Mobile Internet Device) over the current iPhone I use? Lord! I know you’re up to your neck with Apple banging, so for a change let’s compare it to an LG Arena, Samsung I7500 or even BlackBerry Storm 2. Where does this MID score over the rest of these Internet

This Living Human Bone Was Grown In Lab

Scientists have grown real, living human bones in the lab for the first time, completely from scratch, and ready to be inserted inside human flesh. Or given to my dog, as a delicious treat. Dr. Gordana Vunjak-Novakovic—Columbia University professor of biomedical engineering—achieved the fe

Google Wants to Kill JPEGs With New WebP Format

These pictures look the same—but they're not. Because the sign on the right, hypothetically, takes up nearly 40% less space. That's the version in WebP, Google's plan to speed up the internet by slimming down its images. What is WebP? It's a new graphics format that Google hopes will make file

Scientists Discover How to Extend Lifespans without Starving Yourself [Science]

Scientists Discover How to Extend Lifespans without Starving Yourself [Science]

Restricting yourself to a super-low calorie diet has been discovered as a way to extend your lifespan by a noticeable number of years, but it comes with a pretty lousy side effect: you don't get to eat anything. Not worth it! I'd rather die at 70 knowing the sweet taste of ham and cheese Hot Pockets

Why Alcohol Is Good For You

Why Alcohol Is Good For You

It's one of those medical anomalies that nobody can really explain: Longitudinal studies have consistently shown that people who don't consume any alcohol at all tend to die before people who do. At first glance, this makes little sense. Why would ingesting a psychoactive toxin that increases our

HTC Bravo Renamed Desire, Modified Nexus One?

Inspired by the Nexus One (which made), the Desire—or Bravo, if you prefer—has a 3.7-inch AMOLED screen with multitouch, with 480 x 800 pixels. It’s the best display I’ve seen on a for a while.

If the kids at Modaco are right, the rumored HTC Bravo will launch on Verizon as the HTC Desire, pleasing a LOT of people but confusing many in the process. The HTC Desire was also the rumored “codename” for what eventually became the HTC Droid Eris. Any way you look at it, the *new* HTC Desire (artist formerly known as Bravo) is essentially another carrier’s version of the Nexus One.

All this is rumor of course, but according to the pictures and information here, it’ll also come with HTC Sense. Seeing as how Mobile World Congress is underway, it wouldn’t be surprising to see this leak become “official” in the next few days, if it’s accurate that is. And rumor has it the day could be tomorrow.

And wait a minute – will this be sold on ’s website like the Nexus One? Would it be sold as the Desire/Bravo or stick with the Nexus One name? If the object is to not confuse consumers, I think you know where I stand. We’ll see… what do you think?
